Key Performance Indicators: Using them to run your business

A number of indicators can be introduced depending on the programme's objectives. The measures can be generic, for example for programmes focussed on reading accounts or specific to your business.

Measures might be operational for example, operating margin and return on capital employed or measuring liquidity for example, gearing, interest cover and free cash flow or investment measures, price earnings and earnings per share.

Finally we could cover Value Based Management measures such as economic profit and total shareholder return.
